Twitter and O2 team up to help SMEs

Small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are set to receive a share of a £1 million advertising pot, thanks to Twitter and O2.

The social media network and telecommunications giant have teamed up to offer eligible companies the opportunity to promote themselves online.

It is the first time Twitter will allow companies outside of the US to advertise using its Promoted Tweets, Promoted Accounts and Promoted Trends services.

O2 is also launching its own social insights tool to help advise SMEs on how to get the most out of using social networking as a marketing tool.

Among the new facilities is O2’s Social League, which allows firms to compare their performance on Twitter alongside other similar businesses.

Every SME that signs up will be given £50 in free credit to spend on the micro-blogging site’s new small business advertising platform.

From November 18th, companies can also enter a competition to win a year’s worth of free Twitter ads, by following O2’s own business account.
