Over 200,000 small businesses are expected to apply for .london web domain names when the registration window opens later this year.
According to a YouGov survey, more than one in four firms based in the capital were planning on putting their name down for one of the new internet addresses when they go on sale on April 29th.
When asked why they intended on going down this route, nearly half (48 per cent) of the respondents said it was because they were “proud to be a London-based business”. Another popular response was that it would aid customers in finding out where the company is (41 per cent).
It’s easy to see why many firms want to shout about their location in the capital, with the acquisition of a virtual office another way of achieving credibility among clients by showcasing a prestigious address.
Will you be applying for a .london domain name? Will it make a difference to your company?
