FSB's Small Business Summit to showcase new skills funding

A radical change to the way that training budgets are funded in Liverpool is set to be showcased at the Federation of Small Businesses’ (FSB) Small Business Summit later this month.

The event – which is the first of its kind – is being held on October 23rd at Liverpool’s John Moores University.

During the day, more information will be shared on the new Skills for Growth Bank initiative – a £32 million scheme which will see business owners have their say on how skills training is both designed and funded.

Employers in the region will be able to make use of investments between £1,000 and £1 million to improve their workforce’s productivity levels and skillbase.

The FSB’s chair of Merseyside, West Cheshire and Wigan Elaine Moore said: “Business owners often struggle to recruit staff with the specific skills sets they need – Liverpool City Region’s Skills for Growth bank tackles this challenge head-on.”

It is hoped the initiative will help around 6,000 people gain employment, while also creating up to 4,000 apprenticeships.
