Social media is not just a useful way of killing time during the train journey home – it’s also now a vital tool used by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to develop sales, according to the results of a new survey.
A study – carried out by LinkedIn and TNS Market Research – found more than four out of five (81 per cent) businesses utilised websites like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn itself to generate leads.
Almost all (94 per cent) of the 998 SMEs questioned also found the networks highly useful when it came to marketing their brands.
Of the respondents that admitted to having a social media presence, 91 per cent said consumer awareness of their company had improved as a result, while 82 per cent said the platform had supported them as they sought out potential new clients.
What experiences have you had using social media? How do you get the most out of it?
