Flexible working ‘is not being used properly in UK’

VV 2 Dec 2

If used correctly, flexible working can have a massive impact on a small business.

The measure not only demonstrates to employees that they can be trusted to carry out their duties from home, but also allows organisations to reduce their overheads.

However, despite its use seeming to be a bit of a no-brainer, research by O2 has found that employers are failing to make it clear what their policy is.

Just 30 per cent of employees think their firm is communicating its flexible working scheme effectively, while only one-third of staff members believe they are being given the right tools and technology to work remotely.

O2 business director Ben Dowd said: “Businesses must sit up and take notice of this critical evolution in employee behaviour and create a business culture equipped to support it.”

Hopefully companies will come to recognise the benefits associated with the move, as it can make a real difference to a firms’s operations.
