Businesses ‘should focus on employee satisfaction’

Employee satisfaction is essential to businesses if they want to be successful.

If everyone is not pulling in the same direction, then it will be difficult for firms to post strong growth figures.

This is why companies should look to communicate effectively with their staff in an effort to make sure they are happy.

The latest Workplace Employment Relations Study was released yesterday (January 24th) – the first one since 2004 – and it found that job satisfaction ratings have increased, with 20 per cent of respondents saying they are satisfied or very satisfied with all aspects of their roles.

On top of this, 65 per cent stated they share the values of their organisation, which represents a significant increase from the 55 per cent who said so in 2004.

These figures show how improvements are being made, but businesses should not rest on their laurels. Instead, they need to look at what else they can offer – such as flexible working practices – to keep staff engaged.
