Most small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will have set themselves some goals at the start of 2013.
Improved customer service, better growth strategies and signing up new clients are among the most popular new year’s resolutions. However, one area that companies cannot afford to overlook, in my opinion, is cloud computing.
Organisations are increasingly migrating programs onto the cloud, which means they can cut back on the amount of hardware – and office space – they require.
The convenience and low startup costs associated with the cloud makes it particularly appealing to SMEs, as it means they can streamline their operations in a very straightforward manner.
David Linthicum, an internationally recognised industry expert, said that while security concerns still exist, he has “yet to hear about people running off with cloud data”.
Because of this, I think that 2013 should be the year when SMEs in the UK seek to take advantage of the benefits associated with the cloud.
