It would appear that – much in-line with the rest of the economy – confidence among entrepreneurs is on the up.
Around half of them in the UK expect to see their revenue increase by about at least 30 per cent over the next two years, with nine out of ten small to medium-sized enterprise (SME) owners predicting a rise in one form or another.
If the research by Youth Business International (YBI) and the Kauffman Foundation is anything to go by, the number of SMEs themselves is also set to rise, with just under a third of the 150 respondents admitting their intentions to set up a new business within the next 12 months.
The number of people being employed by SMEs also looks set to increase, with 76 per cent of business leaders telling the survey that they would expect to be employing up to 20 people by the time their SME is three years old.
YBI’s chief executive Andrew Davenport said: “It’s encouraging to know that there is light at the end of the tunnel for UK entrepreneurship, with one in two business owners expecting their revenue to rocket in the next few years.”
