Business leaders are being urged to change their attitude to the core running of their organisation in order to promote growth and in turn boost the UK economy.
That is according to a report entitled The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, published by professional services firm Hillcroft House, HR Magazine reports.
It states that while “leaders look to the horizon, managers look to next week”. Therefore, entrepreneurs are being encouraged to take a bigger picture approach to the running of their company and carefully plan for the future.
This means improving communication skills and engaging with the most talented people within a team, rather than promoting a sense of fear driven by uncertainty and insecurity.
Helen Gordon, chief executive of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society believes for managers, having the “desire and will” to change your environment is “not enough“.
She said: “A sense of urgency exists for change. Certainly we have choices – we can surrender and throw our arms in the air, or we can stop, reflect and take constructive and positive action.”
